How to create a token on Solana.
Create an SPL token with your chosen supply, authorities and metadata settings. Understand every step before you sign.
Before you start
- A Solana wallet with SOL for the service fee, account rent and transaction costs.
- The token name, symbol, initial supply and number of decimals.
- Decide whether to keep mint and freeze authorities and whether metadata should remain editable.
What you are creating
An SPL token is a fungible asset on Solana. Choose its name, symbol, supply and recipient. Token options let you remove mint and freeze authority, keep them in your wallet or assign other addresses. Choose immutable metadata or retain an update authority. Removed permissions cannot be restored; a retained mint authority can create more supply without a project-defined cap.

Choose your supply and decimals
The name is limited to 32 UTF-8 bytes and the symbol to 10 letters or numbers. Decimals control how finely a token can be divided. Solana stores supply in a 64-bit integer, so a large supply with many decimals can exceed the protocol limit. The creator validates the exact amount before checkout.
Review the costs
The checkout includes the service fee in SOL, account rent, and the network transaction fee. The service transfer and creation instructions share one transaction. If an instruction fails, creation and the service transfer revert together. Network fees may still be charged.
Approve and verify
Your wallet signs the transaction. A new mint keypair is generated in your browser and signs only the creation of its mint account; it is not your wallet key. RockTheCoin waits for finality and verifies the mint, initial supply, metadata and service transfer before adding the asset to your dashboard.
A token is not a market
Creating a token does not create a liquidity pool, list it on an exchange, establish a price, or guarantee wallet discovery. Those are separate steps. Current launches use the mainnet network and require real SOL.
Supply and decimals work together
With 6 decimals, one token consists of 1,000,000 base units. Choose decimals for the smallest amount you need to send, then check that the full supply fits.
Common problems
The supply exceeds the Solana limit.
The protocol stores supply in integer base units. A large whole-token supply with many decimals can exceed that limit. Reduce one of them and review again.
I cannot change an authority after creation.
Check the preset and the authority recorded on chain. A removed authority is permanent; retained authorities require approval from their current controlling wallet.
